The Importance of A Matching System

The thought of maximum comfort in your home may seem almost impossible, but a matched heating and cooling system can help make it a reality. A matched heating and cooling system will increase your comfort by providing consistent temperatures, humidity control and increased air quality throughout your home, no matter the season. It can also help your home operate at high efficiency, saving you money on your monthly bills.
Comfortmaker® Difference
Air Quality
Pollutants are everywhere in your home and are frequently two to five times more prevalent than in outdoor air. Our high-efficiency air purifiers help you breathe easier by treating 100% of the air flowing through your home comfort system with our patented technology that both filters and kills or inactivates airborne irritants, such as pollen, pet dander, and other air irritants.
Dehumidification
The summer months bring hot and muggy temperatures to many parts of the country. Our multi-stage heat pumps and air conditioners offer enhanced dehumidification to ensure that extra moisture doesn’t stick around in your home. Our efficient furnaces with variable-speed blowers also help pull moisture out of the air during the cooling season.
Quiet
Comfortmaker® products include the extra care and technology to create quiet operation for your home. From design to operation, sound reduction ensures a comfortable experience with your heating and cooling systems. Comfortmaker products deliver low decibel sound levels and sound-barrier technology to create a relaxing home comfort experience.
Zone
Personalize your home comfort as part of our complete Observer® communicating system with the Observer wall control that allows you to customize temperature, humidity, and fan speed in up to six zones of your home. The Smart Recovery feature smoothly and efficiently adjusts zones to your customized comfort levels throughout the day and week.
Remote Access
Convenience and versatility are key to our complete home comfort systems. Our Observer® wall control with Wi-Fi® capability provides the ideal way to control your home comfort from your computer or mobile device. Simply access your Internet and log on to our easy-to-use, personalized Web portal that displays just like the Observer control to adjust your comfort.
Programmable Control
Set your preferred temperatures throughout the week with our Observer® communicating control with advanced touchscreen technology. Our seven-day programming lets you set different temperatures for different times of day—wake, day, eve and sleep—for the ultimate comfort control.
Variable Speed
When you combine one of our variable-speed products with an Observer® communicating control, you have more control over the comfort and humidity in your home. Variable speed is different than single speed because it can move air through your home at optimal speeds to keep your home temperature more consistent, minimize hot and cold spots and also increase efficiency and air quality.
Comfortmaker Communicating Controls
Communicating Controls

Saving Difference
Energy Savings
Comfortmaker® products are made with energy efficiency in mind. If your units are 10–15 years old, you may be paying an extra 20% or more than you need to for your heating and cooling.
Newer products are governed by higher energy efficiency standards created by the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promotes high efficiency products through its ENERGY STAR® program.
All Comfortmaker (R) heating and cooling products currently meet or exceed the DOE minimum efficiency standards. We offer ultra-high efficiency products that exceed the minimum qualifications of the ENERGY STAR program. And many of our product lines are ENERGY STAR qualified with some of the highest efficiency products available today.
Total Cost Savings
The total savings of your current system and a new one depends on many factors such as the weather where you live, utility costs, your home’s energy efficiency, and your temperature setting preferences.
Many state governments and utility companies offer incentives for installing energy-efficient heating and cooling units. Incentives vary widely but typically include tax credits, low-interest loans, grants, and rebates.
In warmer climates or areas with higher electric costs, most homes can benefit from a higher-SEER cooling unit. In colder climates or areas with higher fuel costs, a higher AFUE gas furnace can be more economical. You may be able to compare the annual operating costs of two systems just by knowing their efficiency ratings. Here are the measurement standards the DOE has provided for measuring efficiency:
Glossary of Terms
AFUE Rating: Gas furnaces use Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) as their measurement. The higher the AFUE, the greater the efficiency and the greater your energy savings potential.
HSPF: Heat pumps use Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) as their measurement of heating efficiency. The higher the HSPF, the greater the efficiency and the greater your energy savings potential.
SEER: SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and applies to central air conditioners and heat pumps during cooling operation. The higher the SEER, the greater the energy economy.
EER: EER stands for the Energy Efficiency Ratio that calculates the efficiency provided by a central air conditioner or heat pump while cooling at a specific oudoor temperature. It can be found by dividing a unit’s Btu output by its wattage.
ENERGY STAR®: ENERGY STAR®qualified earn the U.S. government’s designation for superior energy efficiency to help save costs on energy bills.
Decibel (db) : Unit used to measure sound level by comparing it with a given level on a logarithmic scale.
